About a year and a half ago I came home from school and my dad told me to come out back and look at what he got... I had no idea what it would be, we weren't very brand loyal so if could have been anything. When I came around the corner I saw a wheel horse sitting there. He said he got it for a 100 bucks, I assume he got it from craigslist. It ran perfect and it even had a deck with it! Before I got home he had already changed all 4 tires and rims as well as put some wheel weights on. Other then that, all I have ever had to do to it was change the blades after I broke one of them this summer. Its a 312-8 and I don't know the year. Knowing the year isn't something I NEED to know, im just curious. Were can I find some numbers or something else that would help? I couldn't find anything on the engine. Ill try for pics of it tomorrow.

Your model number needs to be written with a dash to find info 05-37SC01
Your deck's serial number is the 12815.
9024 is the Julian build date - 24th day of 1989 - Tuesday January 24th, 1989

I think there are over 600 service bulletins posted in about 5 different series. They are all in there aphabetically with the WH and T separating Wheel Horse and Toro depending who generated the bulletin. Then the years they cover and next the number they used for the bulletin. There are many more not posted but they are for Toro designed product.

You should be able to paint the top side of the belt or the bottom to make it easier to follow.

The 2-blade decks are 37" side discharge. Easy to ID because the left spindle is farther ahead than the right. There are 4 different models
05-37SC01 uses all V-pulleys including the idlers with a 6-sided belt 1986-1990.

265-001 Stens 1/2"x140-1/2" Double-V

.500"x140.5"

There is a product service bulletin showing how this 6-sided belt must be installed. Very important.

A 1990 model 05-37SC02, 1991-1993 model 05-37SC03, and 1993-1998 model 78315 used a 110265 regular belt with flat idlers for the backside of the belt

That's the reason I don't have a belt now! Its very long and its gotta be over 100, or very close to it. I need one before spring though, with this one I have to stop a bunch for the blades to catch up. I will look at the deck for model numbers tomorrow, hopefully somebody will come along who knows what I need.

Sorry, That's a new one on me LOL. I have probably 5 mower decks lying around for the "C" and the 300/400 series tractors and they're ALL 3 blade, 42" side discharge units. I'll bet that wont be a cheap belt though! It's got to be very long! I did some more digging and I just can't seem to find the info for you. A model number off of the deck might help though.

I know they offered a deck with two blades and one with three blades, mine has two so I assume its a 36 inch cut. I am 110% sure it only has one belt. I remember because the last time I had the deck off I had a hard time figuring out how it snaked through all the pullies. Its also a double v belt, I know that much.

Are you sure? I'm not saying that you're wrong, just that mine has a double stacked pulley on the center blade. The belt from the engine drives the top pulley in the stack, which is connected to the one below it, and a separate belt drives the other blades. Mine also has 3 blades. What size deck is it, 36" or 42"?

There should be a model number tag on the mower deck. You'll need that to find the right belt. Or do you mean the drive belt that goes from the engine to the deck? Either way, I'll have to leave it up to someone else as I do not have a manual for your model.

What's rust reformer? What does it do exactly? Also, I need a deck belt for this thing pretty bad, the one that's on it now is almost a perfect circle. Does anybody know what size belt I need? It could also use a brake adjustment, but that's easy and should only take a couple minutes.

Nice tractor, Ryan. Shoot those rusty spots with some Rustoleum Rust Reformer. It'll at least slow that down till you can take care of them.
