Its an Ingersoll Rand ,model 261 I think which seems to be a pretty popular model. Looks well used but seems to work good. This should either get them or break them..! (Didn't try yet)

I have many tools that I bought at flea markets that I haven't used but the prices were so low that it was foolish to pass them up. Every so often another gets used and usually pays for itself in that one use. I bought some plate grabbers for $25 each around 1990. I've used them about 10 times. The new price on them now is close to $400 each. A good investment. I feel that tools are going to be one of the only good investments with the coming bad times. Good Luck, Rick

Nice find and the price was right if it works at all. Only suggestion I will make is ensure that you have a large enough air hose and fittings so that enough air reaches the gun to power it properly - looking at the specs it requires an average of 9.5 CFM. Seen people purchase 3/4" drive impacts new and try to power them through 50 or 100 feet of 1/4" or 3/8" air hose and wonder why it didn't have much more power than a 1/2" drive one.

I'm also of the opinion that quality tools are a good investment when you can find them at a good price. Seems the prices only continue to go up, plus you have the option to use them.
I have noticed at some auctions I have been to that the Snapon and Proto tools were rather sought after.
I continue to pick up quality tools when I see them.
Regards,
Doug

That's a steal for $30! All our air tools where I work at are all Ingersoll Rand and they do take a beating, Those guns usually are pretty pricey , nice find.

So I figured even if I'd have to put a rebuild kit in it ($70), it wouldn't be to bad if it didn't work.
The nice thing is that in today's throw away world it is still possible to repair this gun with a kit that is still available. I remember years ago I purchased a 1/2" impact from my friend who is an automotive technician - gave him the same as he would have been allowed on a new one by the Snap On dealer which wasn't much. Before I purchased a kit I took the gun apart to see why it didn't have much power anymore and to make sure I didn't need any hard parts. Washed all the pieces up and got rid of all the gunge inside and soaked the bearings for a day or two in some air tool oil as they were stiff to turn. Didn't see much wrong with anything else so I decided to put the gun back together and try it. Lots of power and for all I use it will probably outlast me.

The main issue is most folks won't 'oil' the tool before they use use it. All my air tools get 3-6 drops of oil before I hook them up. Everytime!

3/4 IR gun for $30 is a steal. If you only ever use it once, it’s paid for itself.

A repeat of what everyone else said- What a deal!! I would like to find one like that for $30! Might only need it a time or two, but if it gets something apart that you couldn't do otherwise it's worth every penny. That might be good on stubborn lug-nuts too.
