what are these for on my '54 PK?

My "new" '54 Power King has these brackets(?) on each side at the front of the frame. I don't believe '54s had hoods & grills so I wonder what they were for? Thanks.IMG_20201122_074747117.jpg

They are hood mounts. Hoods were an option in the early years. There are '49 and '50 brochures showing Economy deluxe models with hoods on them.

Yep its a hood mount, the hoods look nice but its impossible to work on the engine or even remove the spark plug with it in place so many got removed and put aside and lost over time I'll upload a 57 brochure don't have a 54 but the hood would have been the same, I forgot to say it looks like the original engine would have been either a B&S or a Wisconsin has been replace with a Kohler and the hood would not have fit over a Kohler
