Well, I just joined because I just obtained my first true garden tractor - a 1980 G14lx with some goodies (mower, plow, and snow blower). My plan is for a decent restoration as I'd like to reliably use the mower and blower.

So, point me in the right direction... Where is the best place to get a service manual and parts? What are some tips? What are my options for the pto? Any good seat options?

Status: looks all original; fires but won't stay running past a couple seconds (I assume fuel pump); was told it'll need a pto, I have the parts but it looks shot; haven't looked into the transaxle yet; all original attachments look complete; will need belts for sure.021a026bd476378433a1f7abd69d9c9e.jpg6272f45f1caec2c1e442c135e03b6349.jpge3da3a1fce635ebf66d5704d742cdb64.jpga13851449452ac93fee5c17bcde86a60.jpg4ccfba93db1da21f67be79adb49f0ab4.jpg

Welcome to the forum! Lots of helpful knowledge here among the members. Your tractor with attachments looks like it will make a nice winter project. Nice find/ save! Another older GT that will start a new life instead of going off to the shredder. The manuals should be available for download if you look in beginning section of the forum. There are several suppliers listed that specialize in Bolens related parts too.

Well, to start, what are my PTO options for this? It does not have a working pto.

Welcome to the forum

This should be a link to the service manual

This should be a link to the parts list

You should be able to determine part numbers that you require to repair your pto from the parts list or if you post pictures of your pto it may help members who are familiar with your tractor to steer you in the correct direction as far as what you need to repair it.

What is the issue with the PTO?  Looks like it is in the image of the front blade to the upper left.

You will like this tractor.  They are solid.

Welcome to the sight!  There is a pto assy in one of your photos.  If anything is wrong with it its just simple bearings or bushing etc.  Bearings are avail through out vendors here or Napa type stores.  Pretty much every bushing or bearing Bolens uses on their tractors crosses into the automotive industry or is a common size avail almost anywhere.      Chev 29 gave links to the tractor service manual and parts manual above.

The rest of the manuals are on this sight under the xl series

mower deck is model 18335

pto assy is model 18309

snow plow is model 18305

snow blower is 18311

There are a lot of members here that have or had these series tractors  I have had a few with every attachment you have plus a tiller.

If you can show pictures or explain real precisely what is wrong there should be someone here to help

Are you referring to the electric pto not working ?, or the pto laying by the snow blade ?
