Fall has arrived and appears to definitely be here to stay

A sure sign that Old Man Winter cannot be too far away

The temperatures have dropped and lots of days with rain

At first glance days with dull skies make this time of year appear plain

But Mother Nature takes out her brush and begins to go on a painting spree

To add some colour to the season that one often overlooks and fails to see

Orange, red and yellow shapes form a mixture of contrast that just a few weeks ago was green

She sure has a knack for creating something of beauty as slumber makes the scene

Taking that which was living and from the summer just past sends to their rest

Adding a bit of wind to carry them to the North, South, East and West

Dancing in the air they dart and swirl for all with eyes to behold

Taking a bit of the bite and chill from the air that now feels cold

And of course when they finally land they create a nice rustling sound

To warn those who are busy gathering winter snacks that others are around

Sad to think that the summer of 2020 is now history and done

As the daylight hours grow shorter and we notice that our friend Mr. Sun

Does not rise as early in the morning to break the night’s darkness

And fades earlier and earlier in the afternoon to reveal the Moon in her silvery dress

But enjoy the fall season and the magic that it does contain embrace

For it is all part of a plan that has been around for centuries that somehow was put in place

To provide us with a change so that on this spinning rock that wobbles forth and back

We may enjoy four seasons of life and death that so far no one has been able to hack

Soon fall will become a memory and be left locked in the past as well

So that winter sleeps can once more occur as a time of slumber casts its spell

Creatures large and creatures small will once more begin to rest

Until spring once more brings forth life full of new hope and zest

It is time to wrap up the growing cycle and once more put away for another day

The tools and tractor toys that we in short sleeve shirts did get with to play

But weep not for soon us tractor lovers to the North can other tractor toys connect

As we get some colder seat time to battle a white nemesis we have come to know and respect
