I'll be retiring in 2 weeks ( the end of Oct. )   I'll have to get a new email . As of now if I'm needing to use a email address when home  I use my wife's . I would like to get my own , I also never got a You Tube account  It looks like I can get a Google account with a Gmail address . Does that Gmail work like regular email ?  Whichever email I end up with I'll be using it for everything , as I'm typing this I have a awful lot of places to change . Any suggestions would be grateful , thanks Al

Only issue I had with Gmail was absolutely NO support.  When suddenly my log on info would not work could not even get a reply back from them.  I don't use U-Tube so can't advise there.  Yahoo has worked good from me for the last several months but not saying that to loud either.

Gmail may be great. IDK.
But personally for me whenever I see a Gmail address the red flags go up....
Again that's just me...

Who does your wife use?  Might have tech support right in the kitchen if you use the same host.

There is a good chance your ISP provides email accounts with the service.  That might be the way to go.

I'm not a big fan of letting Google handle email.  They know too much about me already.

I have used the same e-mail since address since 1995 and never had a problem yet. It is a yahoo.com account.

Congrats!!, I still have 559 days left (not that I'm counting), that said, I echo what someone else posted, check with your isp, they usually offer email with their service. As an alternative, I have had a hotmail account since about 1999 without issues. Maybe not the best there is but at least they don't collect as much as google/gmail about you, just a thought. I have never needed an account for youtube, but that depends on if you want to post your own videos. I've never been asked for an account just to view someone else's stuff.

We have just one email account that we both use.  90% of her stuff is on FB so only a few commercial adds for her.

you might also want to consider protonmail.com  they are a very high security service.

That is what I use. I do very little email. Mostly craigslist, and I have not seen a spam message since I went to proton.

I have a G mail account had it for years it works good for me much easier to send large PDF files and photos etc also have had a Yahoo account longer and use it more but I'm getting reallt tired of them tiring to force me to pay for it I check my emails and them this A--hole cartoon pops up and you have to click twicw to get back to basic e mail we also have a a IPS account that we use for more secure messages(??) not sure if it true but that's my thinking. I've tried a couple others like thunderbird cann't remember others now

Oh and congrats on retiring Alc
