Looking for a non running Ford LT8 lawn tractor, or at least a transaxle for said model in good condition. Please send me a message on this site if you have something to sell. Located near Central City, IA. Thanks.

What is the brand of transmission. Not familiar with what's in that tractor for a transmission.

Assuming that it's the 1980s Gilson/Lawn-Boy built machine and not the much earlier Jacobson built model 80 or LT80.

With the Gilson/Lawn-boy built machines it Depends on the year of the machine. Early models had a 3 speed and later models had a 5 speed.

Early models had a 3 speed (with reverse) Peerless Tecumseh model 900 022a transaxle with a normal tunnel cover shifter.

The later model LT8 had a 5 speed (with reverse) Peerless Tecumseh model Model 920-012  transaxle with cool dash mounted shifter just like the LT10, LT11 and LT12.

You can put a 920 5 speed in a earlier model but you need to do some modification on the tunnel cover to get all of the gears to go in. IE make the hole a bit longer in both directions lol.

I had an Orange Gilson LT8 and a Green Lawn-Boy LT10 and they both had the 5 speed and were identical in every way except for the deck size. The 8hp Gilson had a rear discharge 32" deck and the LT10 had a 38" side discharge deck.
