So I just acquired a Bolens lawnkeeper, I know nothing about it but once I saw it I wanted it. Once I drove it I new it was going to be mine Reguardless I’d i use it too now my lawn or not. If I can allocate parts and fix it up to perfect running order I would love too. Not sure if it has any worth but it was too cool to pass up

Welcome to GTT. The Lawn Keeper has value. Post some pics so we can see the condition. Find the model number and serial number(they are on a data plate). Then go to our Manuals Section(3 free downloads per day) and get the owners, parts, and service manuals for it. Then start reading. For parts, we have several sponsors that sell Bolens parts so check with them. Their contact info is on the first page of the Forums section. Good Luck, Rick

Thanks I have the model and serial number but the engine number looks too have some numbers missing, found a local guy that has one for parts so if I can get it cheap enough I’m going too pick that one up too for spare parts unfortunately he doesn’t have a mower deck but mine seems to function correctly for now but I will probably still go through once I get the engine and trans sorted out. I will post some pics of the beast when I get some extra time

So I did a little digging and even mowed my lawn with it.
Things I need for sure
-clutch cable since it’s fray
-either a rebuild kit or new trans, won’t stay in low gear
-carb rebuild kit , leaking gas from bowl
- drive chain, mine is so loose i can’t belive it hasn’t came off the sprockets
- going to order a owners manual on eBay and trying to find a parts catalog as well just to have on hand

- would also like too see what parts are available for the engine if the tecumseh is original or not I am not sure but I wouldn’t mind rebuilding the motor if parts are available
- if anyone can find the manuals on this page attach a link cause I can’t seem too find mine in the manual section

All in all it still cuts damn well. And I belive it’s a 1969 correct me if I’m wrong

parts catalog

Looks like it could be a 1969 or 1970 unit and would have come with a Lauson engine originally.

That’s really sad to find out it’s not the original engine, but in that case I will look into replacing it with somthing newer then. Anyone got idea of what I should put on it to replace my current one. Not sure if over powering it be an issue but I would think at little bigger engine wouldn’t hurt anything. I will tinker with it tonight and see what parts I will need for my gear box seems like it may just be the detent ball and spring hopefully

No need to replace the engine !

The Tecumseh / Lauson V70 you have is the same engine that was in there just 1 extra HP than the Original V60

Well I am told she burns oil but it was being overworked when my buddy used it too now his lawn and my lawn is really small, I used it today after fixing my pto and it took me about ten minutes.
Now all that’s left is to get my hands on a clutch cable and figure out why it won’t stay in low, I can see that there is a detent ball and spring on the parts catalog but I haven’t dug into if it’s missing or not yet was too hot outside. Now that I know that the motor I have is a solid motor for it I will get a carb kit and get it too stop leaking gas slowly. Can anyone point me in a direction too get my hands on a clutch cable would be greatly appreciated
Motor model number is v70-125217c if there is a website too allocate parts for the carb would also be greatly appreciated
I’d like to spend my money on a reputable site

I do not have the clutch cable maybe Ricks Bolens parts may have one

The full carb kit runs $13.42  would have to order

If you would just like the basic needle/seat kit I do stock those

As an update to this post I currently own this LK. I put a spare Clutch cable on it from a parts machine. The carb Kit and tire tubes are next. This is truly a nice clean mower and cuts grass great.

Looks great. I am considering getting one I found near by in good condition, it's the earlier white on red design.
