Im interchanging solid states on a sears suburban super 12 and im wondering if theres any gap or certain position the solid state has to put on?

Be very carefull. Those old Tecumseh solid state ignitions can be touchy and they are very expensive to replace. Download the manual from our Manuals Section and proceed very carefully. Good Luck, Rick

Why are you changing it ? Did you lose spark? Pull the flywheel and take the stator off if you still have problems. Check the wire that goes from the stator to the solid state. They often break in the jacket and or get a bare spot and lose spark. Repair the wire under the bad spot if this is the case. Check it with a volt meter for continuity. While wiggling it around. I would say 80% of them develop this problem and it's an easy fix
