  For those who lose the spout cap(myself included) on your plastic gas cans, Fit a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe in a PVC cap. Then clamp it in the vice and with some careful work with the die grinder ream the pipe out to fit snug over the spout. If you don't have a die grinder use the rat tail file before cutting the pipe to fit in the cap.

Hydraulic hose end caps work good also.  Sometimes you can find on that fits snug on the tapered spout.  Use a golf tee to plug the vent hole if that cap gets lost.

I've used a clean(debarked) stick to plug a rubber spout on a gas can before, a bolt threaded into the end does the same.
