Help,I have a 1963 jim dandy with a 9 hp b&s engine that is giving me fits.I have no spark.I've replaced the fly wheel, new coils, points, condenser, wiring. I thought I had it fixed, put hood back on,left it set & run on fast idle about 15 minutes, then it quit & no spark.Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
Well here are some things I've done :wallbanging: pinched a wire that broke after it ran for a while , not tighten the point mounting screws enough , Replaced a coil with an aftermarket one only to have it fail in a few days ( ok that wasn't my fault ) , Good luck , Al
The wires going into the points cover can get scratched and then short out. Examine them closely and if there is any doubt, tape them up. Check all connections for good contact. The B&S Repairmans Manual in our Manuals Section has a good troubleshooting guide in it. Good Luck, Rick
Seems you need to Orderly check for spark, then fuel to carb, and up to plug. These briggs have fussy carbs too. Get carb build instructions, remove main jet b4 splitting carb or can damage!
