I hate this rear lights. Every time I walk in the shop I want to kick them out. They will be changed next week. Today when I used it the rod under the seat didn't move. I'm sure that's why the rear pto doesn't work. I haven't investigated any further.

 

Belts are either missing, or been lifted off pulleys & tied out of the way.

Since this engine is such crap I can't really use it. I did some looking under it just get an idea of what I may or may not need to this this mechanically great by the spring. I was looking to see if the belts were off the pulley. Turns out there are no pulleys. In a perfect world twostep forgot to give me the pulleys but I'll assume he never had them lol.

No, Bobby never had them.  Easy to tell they've been taken off a long time.

Dang man, that sucks. I never looked under it either. I now there are belts (and I assume pulleys) on back end. Why would someone take those off???

My 1855 was the same way, lever and lower pulley were there, no upper pulley or driveshaft ....I dunno!

All the backside pulleys are there. I think. It looks like there was some driveshaft work done and at the time the pulleys weren't installed. I wonder if I can play with pulley size and get this down to a 540 pto? Or at least get it close?

No room to change pulley sizes back at the rear, and little room to change ratio much in the front.  You "might get it down to 1500rpm if you were lucky.

My 1450 is also missing the pulley on the pto shaft at the front and no pulley on the driveshaft going from the motor to the hydro! While the back of the tractor is complete with pulleys and belts! I just assumed that previous owner put new driveshaft in and didn't get the right one...  I was just going to put two matching pulleys on some way and hope for the best!  Gonna have to wait till I either get one of my1655's going or buy this 1855 I am working on to tear it apart though.  Can't be without a tractor it might snow and then i would have to shovel!

Money is non existent due to work cutbacks. I had a guy call who lives a few miles down the road. He wants to trade me a 16hp from a jd216 for the snapper. Motor runs fine but a crank seal is leaking a little. The Massey may be running next week. Woohoo

Sounded like PTO side on the phone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm going tomorrow after work to hear it run before he pulls it.

That'll be easy as sin to pull the seal & replace.

It will be a few days before I get the engine so I changed something that has been bothering me. I bit the bullet and drilled new mounting holes. Bigger than stock but not horrible.

I drained the hydro fluid. It was horribly dirty. Looked to be hytrans or so. Is there a easier way to fill than this straw sized fill tube?
