If my German is correct, the jd is for John Deere, and rasentrac is for "lawn tractor"... Ist das richtig?

Yep, that's right. When I subscribed here, I was looking for documents for my 112 and I needed a skip. And so I used one of my Yahoo-names to subscribe here. And rasentrac with a "c" is because Y! didn't accept a "k"...
And your german is perfect!

Thanks! I think I'll quit while I'm ahead. My mother's family is from the area between Leipzig and Chemnitz--they came to the US in the early 1900s. I taught myself German, but struggle with the grammar. It did help that I lived there from 1987 to 1991 while I was in the Army, but I very seldom get to practice it, now.

Hi Smitty, we've "spoken" about your Army times in D some times ago. And, i know the difficulties to speak / write in an other language.
You know what you will say, you write it down and when it's done you think - it's wrong. You write it again - and it becomes real bs...
Therefore I say: try to do my best - that's less enough

So, I see one of your sayings is
Schlepper mit Zukunft-- Tractor with a future???? Is there a story behind this.
BTW, your English is excellent, and you've done ALL your communicating with us in a foreign (to you) language...

Your translation is perfect and here's the story:
In 2008 some guys and I founded a John Deere interest community. Such a community needs a name and a logo and so I made a logo
That time I didn't know, that John Deere Classic is a golf event
Then I sent this logo to the JD managment in Mannheim and they said, that using the logo will bring difficulties - and the name isn't good too because of using the terminus JD.
So we needed a new name and a new logo. In 1960, when JD was announcing "A New Generation Of Power" the german models, with engines from Dubuque and a transmission from LANZ, were called "Schlepper mit Zukunft".
And you see it right, the main colour of the handout is red
edit: I forgot to tell, that the first german models were the models 300 and 500. When America started with the 10-series, europe had the T- or 00-series. Some more informations you'll find here.
And John Deere LANZ strongly needed new tractors, because the LANZ era had come to an end. But important for me was, that you couldn't find the terminus JD and there was no copyright for the slogan. And that's the story.
The link in my signature will lead you to our hp.
