I am in the middle of restoring a 915 lawn keeper also. The orginal Tecumseh engine was still on my machine. The model number was V60-70166G. On this original engine, the model/spec/serial number info is on a stamped aluminum plate riveted to block, opposite the cylinder head. The engine numbers you have are likely Sears numbers, stamped into the sheetmetal flywheel cover (since this part is easily replaceable, it may not be the orginal). Sears used these V60 and V70 Tecumseh vertical shaft engines on some of the equipment they sold, but they put their own engine numbers (to conform to their parts number formats). You should be able to get a parts diagram and listing from searspartsdirect.com using the sears numbers. The also can supply some of the parts for the engine, but their prices are high. Use the Tecumseh numbers from the sears parts listing and look for better prices other places. For my V70 engine, I got most of my parts from mowpart.com. The carb used on most all of these "large block 5-7hp" Tecumseh engines is the same, with major differences being in throttle and choke controls. The repair kits for these carbs are readily available.

Bruce , here the numbers off of the engine plate (serial 5315-04147 model 143-165012

As already said, the 143- number is a Sears number.

My paperwork says that for the 1968 Lawn Keepers: the Model 914-01 used a 5hp Tecumseh V50-60123G ....the Model 915-01 used a 6hp Tecumseh V60-70093D.

For 1969 Lawn Keepers: the Model 914-02 used a 5hp Tecumseh V50-60123G ....the Model 915-03 used a 6hp Tecumseh V60-70166G.

For 1970, Lawn Keeper Model 915-03 used a 6hp Tecumseh V60-70166G.
