Feature Tractor For April 2019
I am going to nominate Alice in this month's competition. She started life as an AC 716-6 speed that had a hard life. Been used as a pulling tractor and the frame had been cut so a Kohler Magnum 20 would fit. When I saw this tractor sitting I knew I could do something with her.
I had a Kohler Magnum 18 sitting in the shop for an engine. But I wanted a hydro so I would have hydraulic lift. I happened to have a Ford LGT 16 parts tractor and picked the Eaton/ Peerless from it along with the foot pedal drive system. So I began the transformation. Took about 2-1/2 months and parts from several brands to make it all come together. She has proven her worth over and over. I have a 2-spool hydraulic valve installed, 26X12-12 BKT ag's that are loaded. I have 40 pound split weights inside the wheels and 40 pound Sears cast weights outside making about 200 lbs per side of weight.
She's a Heinz 57 for sure: Ford/Jacobsen rear end & lift cylinder
Sears Fenders, weights and 3-point rockshaft
MTD driveshaft (u-joints)
MF 2-spool valve
Gravely split weights
I had to extend the front frame and hood 4" to clear an electric PTO and the exhaust that I made for her. She pulls a 12" 3-point plow with ease (in Kentucky dirt) and has proven she can pull the 2 bottom 10" plow I built. Here's some pics as things stand now.
