We want to thank the folks at Cumberland Valley Antique Engine and Machinery for having us at this years spring show. The show was held April 24th to the 25th 2010 with a consignment sale that was on Friday the 23rd. We setup our tent at the entrance to the tractor show which worked out great for us because that is where the tractor parade also lined up to start. I also want to thank my Dad for going with and helping out and we also took his Bolens 600 with his newly acquired sleeve hitch and moldboard plow.

While we got to meet a lot of great people and talk tractors it is funny how many people won't approach you. I almost think it is because they may think we are trying to sell them something but what can you really do. We took tshirts along to try and sell but we didn't have any bites. I think we will mainly try to sell them through the site only from now on other then doing a sponsor type thing at other shows. We did manage to stay fairly dry. Mother nature gave us a great morning with sunshine but by noontime it was getting dark and it started to rain.
The good thing is it didn't rain the event out. It rained for about a 1/2 hour to an hour and stopped. It did get pretty chilly and neither of us were prepared for it. Mental note to self for other spring time shows to take extra jackets. We did get to hand out cards and flyers to a good many people. We also managed to snap off 165 photos and 20+ videos. I need to invest in a high quality video camera and editing software for future events so I can tie all the videos together into one longer one.
Here is our little tent with our banner. We need to get a little more added to the banner, maybe like Garden Tractor Talk at the bottom so it is a little easier to figure out what it means. Note to any of you that see this shack, don't be afraid to come up and say hi. We aren't trying to sell you insurance or trying to take your next of kin. Just trying to spread the word about the great site for everyone to enjoy and to let you know that we might get your picture and put it on the site so you might want to be smiling.
Here is the old man's Bolens 600 with his newly acquired Brinly plow. I gotta give the Bolens credit as they have some of the easiest to mount attachments and the sleeve hitch was one of them. We were going to take the 800 down but it had a little starter trouble so we took the 600. When we got back to his place I tried talking him into going down to the one field and try the plow out but he just ignored me and parked it in the shed. I thought it was the kids that were suppose to ignore their parents?
Here is a picture of the lineup of Pennsylvania Panzers that were at the show. So far to date this is the most Panzers I have seen at one show. There were even two of them that pulled later on for the fun pull. One of the ones that pulled I swear was running on alcohol going by the way it sounded but I never talked to the guy to confirm.
There was one fella that had quite a collection of John Deere garden tractors at the show. I am not 100% sure how many were his and I didn't ask but there were a couple of Patio tractors, 110 round fenders and more.
There were also two nice Case 155 garden tractors there. There was also another one that was being parked beside them when we were getting ready to walk down and take video of the tractor pulling.
I loved this and would love to see it running but it is a working scale machinery model built by the late J.R. Balsam and was later purchase by the Cumberland Valley Antique Engine and Machinery Association. I couldn't believe the amount of detail and I couldn't imagine the amount of work and dedication that went into building something so detailed let alone have it as a working model.
We got to meet some nice folks just a couple tents down that were selling raffle tickets to win a nicely restored 1955 Ford 800 Tractor. We got to talking and their show that they have coming up in June is only 2 hours away and they are having garden tractor pulling on that Sunday of the show so we are going to try and make it down. I would like to add as many shows as possible to our list for the year. If you would like to check out their club or get a chance in the raffle check out the Massanutten Antique Tractor & Gasoline Engine Club .
Once again we would like to take this time to thank the Cumberland Valley Antique Engine and Machinery Association for having us and we hope to see them again for the August show.
I have uploaded all of the photos that we have taken along with the ones in this article to the Garden Tractor Talk Gallery. I also have a bunch of videos from the show that you will be able to see on the second page of this article. I do this to help those on dial up and also to help keep things organized. Maybe we will get to meet you at our next show. Events and shows are posted in the Events Forum and also on the GTtalk Calendar.
