This morning I met my parents at the surgery center of Hamot Erie. She went under the knife to get a new right hip. Happy to report that she is doing well, if still a little sleepy.

She had requested a spinal block instead of general knockout gas, but they came to her a few minutes before the surgery and told her that there was something missing sedative wise from the spinal kits and the process wasn't working for any of the doctors. They told her they could postpone or use general. She chose to have it done anyways and it took a while for her to come out of it, but she is in a room and settled in. Soon, they will have her walking with a walker.

I told her we requested the doctor make her 6" taller & she smiled... Humor is intact.
6 weeks from now, I hope she'll be doing the 5 minute mile.

It just amazing what the recovery time is on some of these procedures now a days. She should do just fine if she "does as she is told" by the Physical Therapist:smilewink:

Glad to hear she came through it fine. Dad had one done in 2005 and he says he doesn't know it's there. Getting rid of the pain improved his quality of life enormously.

It's great to hear that everything went well for her despite the little anesthesia SNAFU! If I know her at all, this will be a God send! She'll be outrunning you in no time flat! Send her and your Dad my best wishes and let them know that they're in my prayers as always!
