Ok... I have an Android and so does my wife. Her's has been a pain in my @ss and mine has been fine. This is what I have learned since picking them up last summer if you are considering an android phone:

1) Check on the version of the OS - that makes a huge difference. Mine is running 2.1 and hers is running 2.1. 2.1 is buggy and problematic. 2.2 is more stable and reliable. If the phone is running an older OS then see if you can find when the next update will come out. (In case of the phone running 2.1 demand is poor and support is lacking so the phone will not get upgraded.)
2) Do some reading on the internet and learn the quirks/problems of a given device.
3) Choose your manufacturer wisely. (I would NOT pick up another Samsung phone again.)

In the end I saved $250 by going with Androids but wasted huge amounts of my time dealing with problems and quirks related to them. If I were to do it again I would go iPhone and not look back. Your experience and mileage may vary....

Another thing is Google and Apple are fighting each other in court over thr OS's used on these phone. And Google has admitted to using Java code that they didn't have permission to use.

I would like to second the No Samsung comment above. I like the phone itself, but the program to interact with your computer is the worst POS in the history of programs. I spoke with SSG tech "support" about this issue... No clue, didn't even know what to try.

Ummm. I don't see a box on the survey for the best OS, WebOS.:confuse: It's just killing me what HP is doing to Palm.....

My wife recent got an HTC Sensation running the newest Android OS 2.3. She's very happy with it so far but she doesn't really utilize it's full capabilities yet. No glitches that she's noticed. She does like HTC's interface.

Some of the younger guys at work are using the Droid. One had an iphone and says he will never go back after using the droid. Also read Hunting Rust's posts. He seems to be having issues posting pics with his iphone. apparently one has to drop the pics elsewhere, then upload because of software/OS querks.

My wife and I both have Garmin phones(android)(I was wowed with the features?) and I'm not sure I would get that model again.
Hers has to be charged every day? Mine seems to work pretty well with one exception. The Ringer quit working abot 3 months after I got it.
It vibrates, but depending on what I'm doing I may miss calls and have to call back.

One more thought---

I was told by the Verizon store that these phones need to be rebooted on a regular basis (2-3 days) so I have been more intentional about doing it. Yesterday I did not receive calls, texts or any other communication until I rebooted the phone again. The phone is up to day and this keeps happening more and more often. Stay away from the Samsung phones - we have two in our house and are not happy with either.

Update since earlier post - A bit of Google-foo yielded a press release from Verizon that 2.3 Gingerbread was available for the Samsung Facinate as of 12/1/11. I forced my phone to look for updates and installed the update. So far so good.

I also did some google-foo and found there is an install of 2.2 froyo for the Samsung Continuum that the wife has. I plan to root the phone and install and the update later today. What do I have to loose? The phone is already notoriously quirky and I have threatened to dump it. If I "brick" it I will take it as a sign from the tech gods that it is time to replace the stupid thing.

This site is worth checking out before you buy a specific phone as problems/quirks are always up for discussion --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/

We have been pleased with our HTC and Motorola android phones. My wife and daughter have the HTC droid incredible and I have the Motorola Droid X. They do suggest to reboot the phone once a day or every other day. I usually don't though and haven't had any problems. If the phone does seem to act weird I will reboot.

My reading has told me that there are some brands of Android phones that tend to rise to the top. You have used both. Samsung is on the other end of the spectrum.

I had an android for a couple of years, then bought an iPhone to replace it (based on the kid's recommendation). I am SOOOOO super happy that I did. It is a LOT easier to operate, use the online keyboard and getting apps for it. Downside is like what everyone mentioned, no flash for it. But I don't mind. I LOVE IT.

Android....

I couldn't live without my phone now. Its a backup for everything, i can do my email, web, forums, everything on it. Not to mention all the apps that make my daily life easier with it in my pocket.

I got the Casio Commando. What a phone! Built tough like the other Casio series, waterproof, thick gorilla glass screen. No complaints! I know guys that have stood in the rain with these phones, one that fell in a pool while trying to clean it, phone was fine, just shake off the water and keep going.
