I stop by a local scrap yard regularly and when I was there looking at a Craftsman in the pile, there were two guys unloading some scrap. When they saw two of us looking at that mower, one of them said he had an old mower he was going to bring to the yard and if I wanted it I could have it for free.

Well, he didn't need to say that twice. He said it was a Simplicity and he was trying to clean out the accumulation of stuff from his shop. Needless to say I was at his house before he got back from the scrap yard.

It turned out to be a Regent 14 with the deck and he said it ran but needed a battery. While I was there he said I could have a Snapper 12 hp. rear engine rider too if I wanted it. No need to ask.

Got them both home and started with the Snapper. Hooked up the jumper box and it started up, even had over half a tank of gas. Doesn't smoke, runs great and mows good.

Next the Simplicity. Not in very good condition but it was free. Jumped it and the starter is drawing some amps and cranks slow or not at all. Needs a starter and I have one so I have more to do to get it going. Pretty good day!:bounce:

Great score, what is the plan, resell them, or keep them?

Gee, IDK, you may have overpaid...
Just kidding, those look to be very savable. From what I understand, those Snapper RERs do a great job.

Good luck on the resurrections.

Well this time of year they will sit until sometime next spring ( no heated shop for winter repairs). I'll probably have some more warmer weather to get the Simplicity going. They will be spring sales machines. I am retired and every bit of added income keeps my tractor habit going. Right now I have about 25 counting parts tractors.
