springfield 36 anyone??

i believe what i jus aquired is a springfield 36 by lookin @ other pics. i know how 2 read springfield serial #'s- prob is i cant find 1 anywher!! someone painted over the hood but u can still read "springfield" & what looked like "86" to me but i think it must be "36". the tractor is in great condition w/ 3fwd gears & 1 rev. best part, it was free when i seen it just sittin & asked for it. any help on sites for info would be greatly appreciated!! (i am new to this GTT & i love it already)

Welcome to GTTalk, glag you are loving it already. As for the Springfield if you post pics of it I will help identify the year and model of it for you. I just happen to be well versed in Springfields.

i havent taken a pic yet but i do have a pic of 1 i downloaded that looks "exactly" like mine (just a lil nicer) lol. i dont know how 2 dwnload it tho......

It would be better if I had pics of the actual tractor, it makes the identification easier. Also, I enjoy seeing what free looks like, never got a free Springfield before lol.

i will take pics after work. i had asked the guy what he was doing w/ it bc it jus sat ther & he's into the farmall cubs, not so much smaller tractors like us. he planned to restore it cz he liked the way it looked. i waited a week & asked again if he wanted 2 part w/ it. he said no but asked if i could help him w/ a few things. ended up jus movin implements around w/ the bigger tractors. when we were done he said, "you want that ol thing that bad....its yours, take it."-- so, had fun playn w/ tractors & i guess i got a free 1 in the process.

That's a great acquisition story. Glad you got it, can't wait to see those pics. It might not be the biggest model Springfield made, but it was one of the most common.
