Hi everyone. I've been browsing the forum a little bit and found a tractor similar to mine but I was wondering if anyone has any info on this one. Year? Manuals for it? This was our Garden Tractor during my childhood and I'd really like to get it up and running again.. Its a Montgomery Ward Garden Mark with an 8HP Engine. The Model number tag is worn to the point were some numbers are missing, but I was able to make out (ZYJ-1388A) and (96X___7) Underline is where it is missing numbers.. As far as I know all it really needs is some engine work, it was having Carb problems the last season it ran. (probably around 2000). Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the site! It's cool to have the tractor from your past. I see that it has a Briggs engine in it. If you can get the numbers off of the tin shroud over the flywheel you can date the year of the engine by them. If you find the numbers on the shroud it will be in a sieries of three sets of numbers. The first 2 numbers of the last series of numbers is the year of manufacture for the engine. Hope this helps and good luck on bringing the old girl back to life!

:welcome: Sorry I can't help with this model. I have a Wards also but totally different it only has 2 wheels. Actually it now has 3. I added one. Getting these old warriors back up and running can be a fun and sometimes frustrating hobby. As has been said already someone here probably has the ans. to your questions. Enjoy the site.

:welcometogttalk:

I look forward to seeing the resurrection of your Wards. Things like that mean a lot when they've been part of the family history.

Thanks for the warm welcoming guys! I did find happen a pdf of the manual for the Model number ZYJ-1388A.. I'll look tomorrow for the numbers on the engine, I'd be interested to see how old she is. I'll be sure to update the tread too as soon as I start working on her more!
