My UPS driver stopped by today. Has a JD 212 he bought for the engine to go onto his large walk behind. Ended up the Kohler won't work for the application. He stopped by to ask why the transaxle input pulley would wobble and not pull the tractor, but would spin the wheels with rear jacked off the ground. Told him the shaft or pulley was stripped out. He figured that was it. He showed me pics of it on his cell phone, and I was quite surprised to see a nice 212! Paint looks to be nice & shiny & is complete with deck. Even has good ag tires on the back. He then told me he only gave $50 for it. I asked him if he wanted his money back, and he said YES! He just wants it out of his way in his garage. He has no time to repair it & doesn't need it. He thought of me & that's why he came by. Pays to be friendly to people! He even said he'd drop it off next week as he went to get a tractor that has an engine that will fit his Exmark walk behind.
Can't wait to take possession! :smile1: Don't be telling the rest of the "red tractor guys" now! :D

Good stuff! I scored a 216 with mower deck for $50 last year. Brought it home, put a carb I had laying around on it and it fired right up. Between the 43 blade that came with a front lift, the rear lift off of ebay, a new fuel pump, carb rebuild kit, tire chains, new mower deck bearings, the custom rear weight bracket and two weights, I doubt I've got $500 invested. Just don't turn it into a parts tractor!! Cheers!!

Congrats Daniel on the 212. Hope it will be an easy fix for ya and will be waiting for pictures. For that price really wouldn't matter what color it was. Enjoy!

No plans to part it. Like to repair the trans shaft & resell. The ag tires will likely stay here with me when I sell the 212 though! It runs, but he said it's sat in his garage for a year & now needs partial choke to run. A good carb cleaning is all that needs. He's not mowed with it, but said all feels great with the deck.

want to make back part of your $50 and sell me those ags? Or trade for some slightly used 26x12-12 turfs? Still have the mold vents on them.

Sorry Chuck, but there's a clause in my personal tractor hand book that restricts ags from leaving my property once they arrive! Can't violate the hand book! LOL

I see, so that is the "real" story on why those 26x12-12 turfs got put on the ford lgt 165.

Sounds like a nice little project for you Daniel. It will make a nice tractor for someone and you'll be keeping another one out of the scrap yard.

Blew an ag on my F935 JD mower. That's where one of them went. No funds to buy another & I had those on the Ford, so.....
