Hello deere peoples.....I need to know what hoods would fit an LX 178. A freind of mine got one without its hood and thought he could find something to put on it. Are there several hoods in this line of tractors that exchange. Having the correct model number on it isnt a real concern. Thanks

I'm not sure. You could check JDparts.com. Once you find the part number I believe there is a way of searching to find where the part is used. That should tell you what models would have an exact match. There may also be other hoods that could be made to work.

The LX 172, LX 176 and I think the LX 188 are interchangeable, but he'll need a surgeon, because sellers want an arm and a leg. Good ones are hard to find due to the fact that the poor hinge design etc causes most to break. I have a LX172 that's so busted up I have to lift it off. Luckily, I bought a perfect LX176 yesterday that needs my 14KAW from the LX172 for a hundred bucks, in part because it had a perfect hood.---Hope this helps some

i kind of figured it was a poor design that seems to make them hard to find. I beleive he told me he had paid $400 for the tractor minus the hood. It mows great so maybe he'll just have to use it without one for a while longer. Thanks for the reply.
