engine tinging

the engine in the panzer 1107 has a ting or ping. It is a briggs from 1968 and it had the noise since i got it. My 1978 sincro ballanced engine does not make the noise. Idk what it is. almost sounds like a lifter is bad.

pulled the head yesterday. It was really carboned up. The exhaust valve had at least a 1/2 in of carbon around it. Idk how it ran so good. If i pull it over with the head off there is no tinging. will clean head and put it back together and see how it runs

I think your noise will go away. Don't know why I didn't think of that before. One of those 'Duh' moments, I guess. Good luck with the tractor.
