Ok..So I've been at this for 2 Days now trying to find which darn Snow Thrower will fit my 2000 Craftsman 20.5hp twin. :wallbanging:
This all started when I found one on-line, which the sellers were told that it was about 3 years old when they bought the tractor with. Almost new..never used and never even seen snow. The model is 06061, a 42 inch blower. I called Sears and they tell me that this model is from a 1997!!
After speaking with Sears, they tell me that the only compatible fit is blower model 06072 and model 06061 will not fit my tractor..Doh!

So here's the thing, it seems that its a crapshoot in trying to find a blower capable to fit any tractor at all without being the exact model number..As per Sears.
So...How can I know for sure the possibility that I could make this work to fit my tractor??:confuse:

Any help and would be ever so Grateful....Thanks!

:welcome: to GTTalk.

I've been down this road before myself. The folks at Sears are only allowed to be helpful on cross ref to NEW snowblowers. In other words, what product do they make now that will fit your older tractor.

So, yes, it is kinda a crap shoot. Some of the Operator Manuals had a little cross ref info, but not much. My best guess is that the 42" blower is for a GT, and I think your tractor is a YT or LT unit? will it bolt on isn't the same as does the tractor have enough Hp.

Could you post pics of your tractor and the blower in question? That may help a little too.

:welcome: Welcome to the forum, Paully.

Please also provide the model number of your tractor. 917.xxxxxx, on a sticker/tag under the seat.

Tried several combinations of those model #'s on Sears site to look at parts views, no luck.
I think a 42" may be a little large for that unit... and I'm not sure it was intended to have a blower on it when it was built. The one they make now, what size is it?

The size now they make now I believe is 42 or 44. Already inquired about making them fit my tractor but the salesman tells me it likely will not work..but again he's not sure. Calling sears, model 61072 will work with my tractor, but finding one...I guess the only next step would be finding a manual of this one and comparig it to others to see how different they really are. I know if i can find a 40, which I have if only i could make it fit, it will work. I'm not too worried about the HP. Thanks for your time..

I ended up finding another online locally here and wouldn't you know it if the seller took a photo of their owners manual with model numbers...Looks like these models are the same to fit my tractor as sears tells me..I hope..
