check your points carefully inspect the contacts, that they are not pitted, or local small engine wiz says you cannot do any type of abrasive cleaning on todays points, the plating is to thin, also he stresses using a soft cloth and electrical contact cleaner to sterlize the contacts after using a feeler gauge. often times when a engine starts running poorly after it warms up is because the valves are to tight, heat expands and can cause them to not fully seat after the engine warms up
