I recently aquired two bolens garden tractors, a g14 with a bad motor and a h14xl that is in pieces but the motor is good. Can the motor from the h14xl be putin the g14? I would like to save the g14 because i have a snowblower for it. Any help would be appreciated.

H14xl has a OH140 OHV 14hp Tecumseh.Most of the earlier G14s (1973-1977) had the HH140 flat head Tecumseh.
If your G14 has a OH140 it should drop in without a problem. If your G14 has a Flat head HH140 and no hood scoop, you will need to cut a hole in the hood to clear the valve cover.

The G14 with the hood scoop has the OH140.

A paint roller pan turned upside down makes a good replacement hood scoop after an engine fire burns the factory plastic hood scoop off.
My G14 got a lil warm once! :wallbanging:

Never seen a hood scoop on a GT. Very cool. Needless to say, I'm a big fan of watching engine swaps, so I tuned in to this one. Looks like you're getting good advice, too.
