Some better pics I took last night.......Going to power wash everything today and try and get some numbers off of it, so I can find a manual to download. Where are they located by the way?........I know nothing about Sears tractors....Is this ST16 considered a Suburban?

Blower mount, I think...

Serial # is 0917 25940

So, its a 76 st16....closest manual I can find on here seems to be the 1979 SS16 Canadian model.

I hope you can find a manual. That rear weight is rather different.

Got it running this afternoon.......poorly....Starter is very weak, one of the brushes is not making proper contact, I have a paper clip holding it in for now.....lol

Will take carb apart tomorrow and the gas tank is full of crud, just used a spare tank for now too.....seems to run without smoke though, which is the best sign......makes it worth fixing.

I am wondering about this idler pulley thing....I guess its for the mower deck, the belt comes off the engine, over this thing and down to the deck.....Seems like a long ways to go....Has anyone got any pics of it in place?

I just uploaded the owners manual for a ST/16. It's a model 917.25740(1972) manual rather than a 917.25790(1976), but they should be very similar. I'll try and find the 1976 manual in case there would be a difference.

The bracket and pulley you have pictured is the mule drive for the mower deck. It slides into the front of your frame, can really only go one way. When you work the mower engage pedal, you'll see a threaded rod move back and forth in the front of the frame(the threads are to adjust your belt tension). As you are looking at the front of the tractor, the rod attach's to the mule drive on the left hand side. The whole mule drive slides out to add tension to the mower drive belt when you depress the pedal. If you have any trouble, lemme know, I'll try to get some pics.

Thanks Gibby......I kind of figured it slid in there, but didnt realize it slid to tension the belt......On the deck, there also is a brake of sorts....will get to all that....Working on getting the tractor running right first

Thanks for uploading that manual...I already downloaded the 1979, so with this one it should help a lot
