I found another oil ring for my tra12-d and have a question about the scraper ring. It has a profile on it and I'm not sure if it goes up or down, it also has a expander and a steel rail. no info in the instruction as to how to install them. The oil ring is self explanatory and the compression ring has a mark that says top. So if anyone can tell me the way they go on ie. profile direction, steel rail(top or bottom)Thanks.

The notch should go down. This pic doesn't have the expander, but shows the profile.

Thanks for the info!! I guess the steel rail goes on top because it is the same diameter as the widest part of the ring? These are TRI-Chrome rings.

I am not familiar with your exact ring set. Can you post a pic of this set? I'd rather be sure than determine based on how other ring sets are oriented. I'd still bet the gap goes on the bottom. Never seen any otherwise.

I knew the cutaway would go down, but had no true idea as to top or bottom for the thin rail. I had hoped you'd see this post Brian!

These directions were printed on the box of TRI-Chrome rings I put in my TR-10D last summer

Yeah, usually the boxes don't have any pictures or directions on them. When I got that ring I figured I better hold on to it LOL

It's a good thing you did, I installed them with the scraper ring on top. Would not have been happy if I put it all back together and had to redo it all.
