I am looking to get paint for my 1476 now. Have you done the engine with this paint? if so, how does it do with the heat on the engine?

That looks pretty good. Did you have them scan it for a match or do it by eye?

they scanned it and then I had them change it a bit. I used to do these color matches myself both by eye and with a machine. I took the sample from the seat spring set up. It was a real nice and clean sample.

Does anyone have the paint code or a good match to the original color for a 1886-01? How about the code for the brown grill color?

I was looking through here for the colors for an LK, but didn't see them. Mine is the 915-01. Are they elsewhere?

Here is the OEM color match I came up with for my 1476. I think it looks pretty close.

Someone is selling Aztec Gold rattle cans on eBay. Might be a good opportunity to determine what the color REALLY is.

I'm pretty sure that gold is what they used in the mid 70's and was not the color used for the early metallic gold,

Aztec gold is this color:

Paint code that was listed at my local parts place that mixes paint , it was listed as Bolens Green , and was from mid '80's, here is a pic of it sprayed on my hydro dump, pulled by a mid '80's HT23, I touched up of few spots on the 23 and it was as dead on as my eyes could judge it.

I'll have to pin the paints in the first post so we can find them easier.

So do you think that the Sherwin-Williams dark green is the right color for all of the HT23's and related tractors?

I'm going to say yes, taking into consideration that Bolens was fickle at best in regards to paint suppliers and their paint codes non existent (as far as I know). I have a Duratrac I bought new and is pretty nice shape, I'll compare . I'm going with this color on my 23TLB and I'll line it up beside the one in the pic, that's original and pretty nice and compare these as well

Is that for a specific year being metallic or does that cover many? I'm interested in repainting my 69 1225 and want it to be correct. Thanks Tom
