This is a thread intended for members to post what paint codes they have been able to match to the original Bolens paint.

Here's an example:

1) State the model of tractor or attachment
2) State the brand and name of the paint color, and where you got the paint from. example: (NAPA, TSC, ect.)
3) If possible post a picture of either the paint itself or the entire painted tractor.

This will be a work in progress, so if anyone has any other info they can think of to add to the list feel free to post it.

What brand of paint are you planning on using?

Napa has some real close matches to the original Bolens colors. Most times if you take a sample paint chip they can scan it and give you a perfect match.

napa is 7 miles away so probably will go there. I did not know if you had already had some numbers from them or not. looks to be a brown, and a white or off white.

The first couple restorations I did, I used custom mixed rustoleum. After using both paints, the NAPA paint seems like better quality and I use that from now on.

The white is not pure white, It is an off white cream color. I used Rustoleum Gloss canvas white on my 800 which is basically the same as the 900.

Here's a picture so you can see what the colors look like:

I went with the canvas white in rustoleum and I am very happy. you can hardly see any color difference to the original steering wheel which i did not paint. also used a satin expresso brown, universal paint made by rustoleum. its coverage was exellent. liked the color match. may have been a little darker then yours.

I am painting a 1256 and went to BAPS (local PPG paint distributor) where they used their "Profit" to take a picture of my original paint. It crossed to a color of a 2003 Nissan "Light Olive" that looks to me to be a perfect match. I do however need the following information regarding the rest of the color scheme. The grill headlight decal is the Husky Dog, not the"Huskyman". Is the grill area color supposed to be black or the light olive (I've seen both)? What color are the hubs for the front wheels? And last, can anyone reccomend a red color for the wheels? If anyone can help with a photo or information, that would be great.

Thanks,
Bud

Here's a picture of the two different decal schemes that were used on the 1256. The 1970 1256 used the husky man on the front hood, so you need to look at the one on the right (1971) Notice the grille in the 71' is darkened

I found the implement color Black at Carquest here in Canada and the Massey Ferguson RED but still haven't found My H14 offwhite color yet. A close but not quite there color match is Tremclad Recreational White. I did the wheels in that color but it looks too baigey (spelling). Anyone in Canada have a closer match for the 1456 (H14) color?
