After studying the pump on the new 430 I finally figured out why my 430 does not smoke much with a heavy load. Got the fuel turned up on the original 430 and she is like a whole different tractor now !!! :beerchug:

Thats good news. Someone had turned down the fuel pump! I guess you never know what may have been done to a used tractor.

Looks like a overheat was the engines problem. The water ports were clogged at the head gasket, so I will have to look at the head closely. The pistons are .010 over so the block has been bored at some point. Cam bearings seem ok, crank need to be turned but I'm not sure if it has been turned before and the JD only offers .010 under so that may be a problem. Seat pan has no cracks in it which shocked me.

DANG! My wife would have killed me, but it would have been worth it. I had found a 140 h3 with the 54 4way front blade, the deck, a ballast box, iron weights for the rear wheels, and chains for $150. I could have made my money back with the weights and chains, but my wife said "not if you want to see me naked again". I still went back, but I didn't get it.

I'd have bought it anyway! She couldn't hold out forever! :bigrofl:

That would have been a deal of a lifetime!

You guys seem to be drowning in diesels down there. Hopefully you can score a healthy one.
