We just acquired a neglected LT133 that we plan to refurbish. All suggestions and hints appreciated! We need tires and battery for starters.

If its like that LT155 I had, there's a bushing on the steering column under the battery, for the $3.55 you want to replace that.

Guy before me let it go, almost rounded the teeth of the steering column shaft.

Welcome Dana. Have you checked out JDParts.com to have a look at the parts diagrams for your tractor. You can get pricing and even order them online if you register with a local dealer. I'd check with local JD and other tractor dealers for some pricing and then look at on line suppliers for tires to see if it is worth mail ordering them.
