73 JD 110 newbie

I have a 73 JD 110,replaced battery to start engine and nothing happens seems to be dead. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Check the battery to see if it's dead. If it is, then you have a drain on the system when the key is off. The ignition switch could be bad. If the battery is charged, then I would check the main ground at the chassis first, then go to the starter and check the positive connection, also at the solenoid. Make sure all these connections are clean. If these are all good, start checking for safety switches.

Make sure the power is actually going through the solenoid when it is activated.If it isn't,you most likely need a solenoid.Do you have power to anything else?

Yes battery is new solenoid is new and switch aslo,it does not engage starter to crank engine.Thanks.

Make sure your PTO is "off". I also have a '73 110, and sometimes, if the PTO lever isn't fully disengaged, it won't allow the starter to work.

Dont forget the neutral safety switch by the gear shift.

also check the circuit breaker. it is rare they go bad, but they can. it should be close to the solenoid
check the wiring harness for any bear wires. and rusty connections
