I'm looking through my wheel horse 857 manual for trans service and it makes no mention of viscosity when changing fluid out.
Thought I should ask here so I don't mess anything up. The PO never changed it himself and wasn't sure when it had been. The trans is quiet and smooth as it is. What do you all use/recommend? I have some 75w90 on hand. :smile1:

Never mind, I found the info. Requires sae 40, seems light to me.

there are hardly any trannys that require a heavy oil, in fact the heavy oil is hard on most of them. Even things as big as semi tractor only use 50# oil in the transmission.

I went to my local auto parts store and they didn't even have straight 40 oil. Bummer.:confuse:

Check with NAPA, if they don't stock it, they will order it.

Ha, found two Un-opened qts in my garage. They are probably 20 years old, are they still good I wonder?
