How do you tell the difference between an original seat and a replacement? I have a steel seat pan with a yellow seat that has John Deere emblossed into the seat pad back on a 1978 316.

Terry I will try some of my pics are not great first 2 will be original style life would have been on your tractor
Looks like Deere stopped puting this seat on tractors around 1983 must have been with the start of the 318's

At that point Deere started useing 2 styles of high back seats one the 200's tractors and the other on 300's and 400's tractors
the next 2 pics will be of the style that replaced the first seats I posted

I see. I have a replacement for the 200's then even though my tractor is a 1978. Mine has the smaller sections and the emblossing on the seat back. When I bought the tractor the black edging was gone which holds the seat cushion to the seat pan. I've since ordered new edging and using flat jawed vice-grips have resecured it to the seat pan.

Thanks for the pictures Littledeere. Now I know what I'm looking at when I see one.

Just pre-ordered one for the 120 and posting this to return it to the top. The pre-order price is very reasonable IMO

Anyone know if this is going to happen? It would be more inspiration for jumping into repainting the 120...
