I used the 68 to mow yesterday. Just as I finished up, the engine started to die. Pulled the mower clutch back and it kept running. Tried to put the mower back on and it tried to die again. Need to see if the spindle is binding, bad bearing maybe. Anything else that would cause this?

Kenny, if the motor is down on power it would cause this as well. If the mower checks out then the problem is with the motor.

i was thinking those had a kill switch on the deck engagement, maybe someting is shorting it out

I found one. Just hope this has that switch. First I will check for a bearing in the spindle.Page49.jpg

Just for clarification, this happened all of a sudden, like I had turned the key off.

make sure you check out all the wiring, maybe something has rubbed though the wire at a bracket.
