The Originals were made from 1961 to 1963. If he posted a serial # it could be pin pointed to yr and month it was born. Nice machine your buddy picked up.

Some were built in 1960,but those few were not sold to the public. This one is supposed to be a 1963.

With that SN, that makes it a late 1962.

From what I have read, There were 100 or so built in 1960 and put out for testing. Some of them were later returned to IH.. The others were left or sold and are out there. A few of them have been restored and documented at Cub Cadet web site.

Looks like it's in pretty good shape.
I take it that price was a steal? What would market price be?

What are the chances of finding a hood for one of those?
Also, where would the serial # be located?

Ya we were talkin about it tonight, not gonna be a 'tough restore' around $350 with some extra's...parts are available, the ser# is stamped on the rt side of the frame...I think I just took the photo I forgot exactly where but believe its on the right side..

That is nice. Seen one before, but it was a long time ago and, even then, it wasn't in as good as shape as this!

The SN is stamped in to the right hand side of the tranny case.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'm just trying to figure out what we have here. Looks identical to cub
that started this topic. Ser# stamped in right side tranny is 22015.
What year would that be?
