Thanks Guys,

I got the 316 Sat. brought it home mowed the lawn, wanted that out of the way before tearing into the tractor.
Today removed all covers & deck, and washed the whole unit inside and out. It needed it! Changed the eng oil and picked up trans oil&filter, fuel filter, air filter, and deck drive belt from the local dealer. looks like I'll be busy before work again tomorrow.

It sounds like you have the maintenance under control. It's always good to give a new tractor the once over.

Welcome Mike
to get to know your tractor check out the Manual section. a lot information about your tractor that will help you understand it. Also check out the John Deere part catalog site John Deere Parts
you will have to go thru the registration there. Then your can find your tractor or the attachments for your tractor. you can see how it goes together and where parts go if you forget. and see if the parts numbers

good luck, have fun and enjoy your new 316
