At the Wellington show, there was a 1656 for sale (there's a pic of it in my Show thread) and I was SORELY tempted to buy it, but at $800.00 I thought it was just a mite too pricey.

I've been wanting a hydro tube frame for the Sickle-Mo and for the Snowcaster this winter.

Well, I looked on Craigslist last night after getting home from the show, and lo and behold....there was a 1256 listed. Pics looked REAL good, but he was wanting $650.00 FIRM. I thought that was a bit on the high side, but still...it's a hydro, so I gave him a call earlier today.. He said he had some other stuff too if I was interested.

I had rented a trailer for a week to take the 800, and G10 to Wellington, and since it's not not due back until tomorrow, I took it with me in case I wanted the 1256.

It looked just as good as the pics. Even has the original seat that is almost perfect. No rips, teats or cracks. It runs a bit rough...blows a bit of black smoke, so it does need some carb work, but I think is more of an adjustment rather than a re-build.

I said OK, I'll take it even at 650.00, which I know some of you guys think is too much. Then he showed me the "other stuff", and said that he would take $800.00 for the whole lot.

What was the other stuff? A Brinly sleeve hitch, and Bolens badged E-Z Vac system.

Well, $800.00 changed hands, and it's all sitting on the trailer in the driveway.

It's dark, and rainy, so pics will have to wait until tomorrow.

Here is the Craigslist listing, just to give you an idea:
BOLENS 1256 HYDROSTATIC NICE SHAPE

Oh...it's a 1256-02 which I believe makes it a '71.

Now if I could just get a whole herd of GT's WITH teats, then I could quit milking these kicking cows!:bigrofl:

Sorry, I couldn't help myself! :D Sounds & looks like you made a good haul!

Sounds like you got a really Good Deal
If its the EZ vac I'm thinking of you struck gold. I never seen one in person before, only in brochure pics.

Not being versed on Bolens, it sounds like you may have hit the Motherload on that EZ Vac! Hope it's so!

Not quite like that one.

This one has 'hard sides' and a canvas top. There is a bracket that replaces the rear hitch on the tractor which holds the engine/blower.

It quit raining, so I went out and took this pic and took some ROUGH measurements.
Trailer is @ 26" wide, 44" long, and 12" high (outside dimensions). The bolted on 'extra' sides are 21" high. It's a dump trailer, and odds are it was made by Brinly.

Not a bad buy at all.

The dump trailers were built by Bolens.
