Every once in a while i find things like this, a rare first series ariens snow thro with the gearbox drive line and the tecumseh/lawson 4.5 hp engine, what a find this is.

The Ariens 1960's and 1970's Sno-Thro info site.

no luck today, micky mouse had made a home around the coil, i cleaned the points but still no spark, now to chase the wires and check the condencer, i have to fix a customers push leaf blower, has the 8 hp IC briggs engine with the flow-junk carb that needs cleaning, gets too dark too soon now,

I know you will keep us posted on your progress. Just wanted to wish you luck and thanks for posting the pics. And yes I did notice that it is starting to get dark too early for me also.

In between the skeeters bitting like mad and the hit~n~run rain i got it to run, so much moisture in the air my points file was rusty and left some rust on the points, i checked and double checked all the wires and condensor before looking at the points again, dang rust,
ran good untill the float jammed open, i'll pull it and clean it some other day, tranny works good along with the auger and fan blade, engine does not burn oil, how about that for a 1960 lawson/tecumseh engine, well taken care of, now it's my turn :D

It's a pretty decent looking unit for its age, I've been looking at getting one myself, but I think it's a 70s model with a 5 horse engine.

When it rains, it pours...
in an last ditch effort to provide a snowblower to the family i pulled out the 60's sno thro only to have the flywheel catch the coil lead wire and rip it off,...
