hello i have a gilson garden tractor that has a old briggs motor on it but dont know what hp it is or dont know where the numbers are on it i do have the numbers for the unit its self id also like to find out what yr tractor is also

The numbers on that B&S probably will be on the side of the air cap. They will be stamped into the metal rather than a decal which makes them harder to find. Especially if the engine is dirty.
Can't help with year. You sure about that mod no? Mine starts with "GIL". Mine is 1982 and mod is GIL33891A.

thank you for th info on the motor and the model nu is right this is what is on my tag for unit ( manufactured by senator tillers plymouth, wisconsin model no. 849 42322 serial no. x704994 ) its on a tag attached to the metal under the steering wheel also the front grill is made out of heavy cast iron and it was painted green a lighter green

thank you i lost interest in it and was thinkin of traden it off and got to thinkin nah i may have something here worth keepin so it will time some time and a little cash but its something i can do with my 2 boys

well i found out today that the briggs on my gilson is a 1970 16hp which is good i like the hp the motor was built in jan of 1970 now i need to find out about the tractor
