I said I wasn't going to buy any more tractors until I got rid of a few or finished restoring one or two. Well, so much for that. I was looking at the evil Craigs list and saw an ad for 3 suburbans, a repost of an ad I saw a few months ago. A 16/6, SS14, and a suburban 10 parts machine. The first time the ad ran the guy was asking $1000 for the three. No price listed this time, so I figured I'd email him and ask about the 16/6 and the SS14. His price dropped quite a bit from the original ad, $250 for the 16/6, $150 for the SS14. He's not too far from me, so I figured I'd go look. He is the second owner of the 16/6, the first was his Dad. It's been garage kept its whole life up until Feb. of this year. Needless to say, it's clean. One small spot of rust on the hood and that's it. The engine still looks new, even the exhaust has almost NO rust on it. It's running the mule drive and deck from the sub 10, but I have a few newer suburban decks around in nice shape, I'll throw one of those on it. For $250, I didn't even try to talk him down, I almost felt bad only giving him $250 for it, almost. If I had brought the trailer, I probably would have gotten the SS14 as well(what the heck, $150). It's pretty rough by comparison, but still decent, needs a bath and some paint. Dunno, I may still go back for it, those are my favorite body style suburbans. It's too dark for picks tonight, I'll get a few up tomorrow.

I know all about that not starting out for another tractor. It happened to me yesterday too. Went to an auction because they had a drill press and power hacksaw I thought I could use. Well when the bidding started on this SS16 I just couldn't help myself. Got the tractor, snow cab, snowblower, 48" deck, wheel weights and chains for $300. The tractor starts and runs great with no smoke, the snow blower works good too. The cab has some bad spots but it will do and it does say Wheel Horse on it.

Here's a few quick shots I took after trying the mower deck out. The old deck does pretty good, but I still think I'll put the newer style on it.

First one I've seen in a while with an intact hood hinge.

Looks great, Gibby. Which Onan do these have? Not a B43/48 by chance?
