Today was the first day of my official retirement. I had scheduled several
personal days for the end of August, but TODAY is retirement day. I have no immediate plans other than taking care of my wife as her ankle continues to heal. I will probably get some type of job next year, but for now
family comes first.
I did mow about an acre of grass today that had been neglected the last few times we mowed. I told my wife that tomorrow I will take a ruler and a lawn chair out in the yard and measure the grass as is grows. It's what us ROF's do.( ROF-retired old farts)

Thanks Al. I turned 59 in July so I am a little early on the retirement, but it has become a quality of life issue. My previous job had me on call 24/7 with no definite schedule. It had been better a few years ago but had changed the last few years. My wife is very frugal so we will survive. (As long as there are no good buys on Bolens tractors).

Ditto -Grand. I am still kinda 24/7 at 61 but I enjoy irritating younger people so I'll stay on job for a while yet. Enjoy and wished you lived closer with a sandblaster !!!

 Congrats Grand! I hope you enjoy your retirement. If you get bored, WalMart always needs greeters. :laughingteeth:

I kid, but a retired friend of mine got a job part time at KMart assembling Bikes. Kinda seasonal, but he figures he will work some when the roads are good and not worry too much about things when winter hits.

Congrats on the retirement, Grand. I wish I had time to watch the grass grow. I've been busier since. I'm hoping today will be my re-retirement from this remodel job. I want to play with the GT's.

Thanks for all the good wishes. I have a few things planned ( tractor shows, canoe trip ) that won't have me worry whether I will be home or on the road. It's nice to be able to definitely plan ahead.

Congrats grand. Retirement, at any age, is usually a good thing. Hope you fill your days with what you want to do. Perhaps posting will increase.
