Looks like a good candidate for a restoration.

If anyone has repaired a busted upper grill, what has been the best way to do it? Every Sears/Roper I've had with this type of 2 piece grill had the upper broken or damaged. I've had ST10,ST16 two SS16 onans and a Roper T16 Briggs twin.

I just finished working on an SS 16 twin that also had a damaged upper grill but not quite as bad as yours. You can see pictures of the tractor in my recent post titled "Recent Find SS 16/Twin". The grill is made of some kind of composite material and I thought it was fiberglass but not sure. Anyway, I used fiberglass cloth and resin to beef up the damaged areas and it seems to be working well so far.
