Greetings Fellow Sickies!

Well I have officially contracted the Green Sickness. On a whim I bought a John Deere 317 off the side of the road because it looked about the same size/power as the old Montgomery Ward my grandfather taught me on. It was in pieces, but everything looked to be in reasonable shape.

I was able to get everything re-assembled in no small thanks to the information on this forum and lots of images found on the internets. However, in all that reading and hearing of the legendary 318, I started keeping my eyes open...you know just in case.

Well last night I picked up a nice 318 w/ a 50" deck and brought her home. I couldn't be more excited to get her up and running. One dedicated to mowing, the other for heavier tasks...both however have grown on me.

I look forward to joining in the discussion and of course learning from the year of experience on this forum.

Welcome to GTTalk Allen. Looks like you got bad.
I have uploaded manuals for both those tractors to our manuals section.

Glad to have you here Allen. The older 300 series is a very capable tractor and many parts are still available from Deere. The 318 is much loved by Green enthusiasts and I wouldn't mind getting one myself but JD tractors are not very common in this neck of the woods. Congratulations on having found a 318 and adding it to your collection.

 allenblakee Welcome to GTtalk! Glad to have you join us in the sickness LOL! We've all got it in some form. For some of us it's red, for others it's yellow or blue, but the end result is the same. More tractors and less space to keep them in! We hope that you enjoy the forum and keep us posted on your progress. We'd also like to see some pics of your treasures when you get the chance! Thanks for signing up!

Now you've gone to far Kenny! Rather than spoil a perfectly good green tractor by painting it red go out and get yourself a real genuine red one. Then you'll be able to have red sickness and green sickness. Highly recommended. I have an MF8 just for that purpose!

Yes, I noticed Kenny seems to be leaning away from the Blue lately. I see he has tractors of all colours.

I have a red one, Ranch King 14/42. And a Blue, a Silver, a Yellow/White, and a Green. I like all colors. Especially if they run.
