I hope to install valve stems and inflate the front tires tomorrow. At this point I am going to remove the front axle to clean it up for repaint. While it is out I will attack the sloppy steering too.

Thanks! I hope the rest of the tractor looks as good those wheels which turned out pretty good for a spray can. The Valspar paints are pretty easy to work with.

That's looking good! Does the 120 have 1" spindles?

I believe they are 3/4" which is the same as the 300/312/314/316k/317. I will get a pic of the damaged one to show the diff.

300 series are 1" spindles. I'm not sure if the 120 is or not.

Back from the dead :smilewink:

I have done a bit more work since the last post including:

Assembled the newly painted spindles and tires with new bearings and races. Those dust caps are a pain :mad2:

I also removed the front axle to clean and repaint next week. I will order new ball joints from Deere next week. The fender pan is removed and a local welding shop is filling the holes from the previously installed and long sense removed cab. Finally the back tires are off, aired down, and getting ready for paint and new tires. Not sure if I want to go with 23x8.50-12 Carlisle Turf Masters to match the new front tires or 23x8-12 Carlisle All Trails for additional grip. It looks like the Turf Masters are a bit cheaper... :confuse:

The reason I was asking about the spindle size is that I have a pair of spindles, tires and tie rod from an unknown JD. They are 1" and I'd like to have an axle to go with them. The fender pan looked very similar to this!

I spent some time on JD Parts and found that the 314 uses 1" spindles and the part cross-ref-ed to late 140, 300, 312, 314, and 316k . The 120/140 share the same size. Do you have any pics? I can compare to the original and replacement spindles from my 120.

Did a bit more work today including some degreasing and power washing parts to be repainted blitz black. I am seriously considering removing the engine and console so I can paint the frame. Am I going insane? :confuse:
