Hello all I just joined this site and am in need of a service manual for a 400 series. Specifically I need information on the brakes. There is a manual listed here but it is just the an index of which page things are on in the actual manual.

Any help would be appreciated. I need pictures and shaft size, drum size ect.

There are a couple of sections on the 400 service manual in our manuals section. This one covers the brakes I believe:

I have a Jacobsen 53500 that has a broken brake drum and someone on another site said that a JD 400 might fit since there are none available for the Jacobsen or the Ford LGT 195 which is the same tractor. They were only made three years and it was a small number of tractors.
I need to know if the axle on the 400 is 1 1/8" and what the JD drum looks like. It has a Tecumseh 2500 trans axle in it if that helps. As I understand it the 318's and such have a 1 3/16" axle so that will not work.

I only saw two manuals one for the Kohler engine and the other is just an index of the actual manual. I have no idea why someone would need that without the manual to find what you wanted.

Just so everyone knows I have been contacted by a guy that has the drum I need, so now I no longer need the manual. After talking to him the one for a 400 wouldn't have worked anyway. Thanks to all who replied.
