I'm new to the Ford/Jacobsen forum. Recently inherited an LT16 that is in very good condition short of the 5-speed transaxle which is inoperative. Does anyone know who made the transaxle and its model number? Will be either repairing or trying to replace it. I'm also curious about whether Jacobson or Gilson made this tractor. The deck that came with it looks a lot like a beefed up Gilson. Thanks very much for any input on this tractor. :smile1:

I won't swear, but I believe that is made by Gilson. The Jake made Fords didn't have a 5-speed tranny.

P.S. Tried New Holland and could not find an LT 16.

Thanks KennyP,

The LT-16 definitely was a Gilson. Now all I have to do is locate a replacement 5-speed transmission for it, a Tachumseh/Peerless model 801 or maybe an 802 which was heavy duty.
