Dump question guys. Will it hurt to just mount the motor directly to the frame like the 140 and 120 motors were? I don't have much experience with the 200 and 300 series, so please don't laugh at me for the question. Would it vibrate that much differently then the old motors did?

It is a good question really. The mounts are a big source of trouble. The 140's had the counter balancer gears and the 316 does not. I have no idea how much it would vibrate if you mounted it solid. The thing to watch out for is to make sure you get the height of the mounts the same so that the drive shaft lines up properly. All you can do is try and see how it works.
